This experience is designed for guests who enjoy an active and immersive travel experience. Taiwan is best explored on foot, and our days often include walking through vibrant neighborhoods, markets, cultural sites, and historic areas—typically around 8,000–10,000 steps per day (approximately 6–8 kilometers or 4–5 miles).
Guests should feel comfortable walking several kilometers each day, navigating uneven sidewalks, stairs, and varying terrain. Comfortable walking shoes are essential.
The pace is thoughtfully planned with opportunities to rest and recharge, but this experience may not be the best fit for guests who prefer a more relaxed itinerary with minimal walking, frequent rest periods, or primarily vehicle-based sightseeing.
-
You do not need to be in perfect health to participate. In fact, this experience is designed for individuals who want to take a proactive approach to understanding and supporting their health.
However, guests should be medically stable and able to safely participate in international travel, scheduled health assessments, walking, and cultural activities throughout the itinerary.
If you have existing health concerns, mobility considerations, or questions about whether this experience is right for you, we encourage you to discuss them with your healthcare provider and share any relevant information with us during the planning process.
-
We strive to accommodate dietary needs whenever possible and ask that you share any food allergies or dietary restrictions with us during the registration process.
Because many of our meals take place at locally owned restaurants and off-the-beaten-path establishments, accommodations cannot always be guaranteed. Language barriers, ingredient availability, and the spontaneity of travel in Taiwan may occasionally require changes to our dining plans.
If you have a severe food allergy or a highly restrictive diet, we encourage you to contact us before booking so we can discuss whether this experience is a good fit for your needs.
-
Not at all! No Mandarin language skills are required to enjoy this experience.
Having lived in Taiwan for seven years, Tricia is familiar with the culture and everyday travel throughout the country. Combined with our local relationships and support from English-speaking healthcare staff, you'll have guidance every step of the way.
That said, you'll likely pick up a few useful Mandarin words and phrases along the journey—adding another memorable layer to your experience!
-
Your reservation is confirmed once we receive your non-refundable deposit. Because we begin securing accommodations, healthcare appointments, and other retreat arrangements well in advance, the deposit cannot be refunded if you need to cancel.
For this reason, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to help protect your investment in the event of an unexpected cancellation or interruption.
Complete cancellation terms, payment schedules, and refund policies are provided in your Retreat Agreement before you finalize your reservation.
